Flooding

For basements, crawl spaces or other situations with water problems.

Which pump for my basement?

Our submersible, flat-suction pump is perfect for this. It works from just 7 mm of water and suctions down to 2 mm. This leaves your floor virtually mop-dry. With a float switch, the pump automatically switches on as soon as water enters, so you don't have to constantly be there.

My basement is slowly filling up

That's exactly what our pump is designed for. For gradual inflow—such as 2-3 cm over 12 hours—install the pump with an Electrode Switch. This ensures the system operates 100% automatically and prevents water buildup before it causes damage.

Can it withstand sand or dirt?

Yes, our pump is designed for lightly contaminated water, such as sand, mud, leaves, and dirt from basements or flat roofs. Important: regularly check the bottom of the pump to ensure that dirt doesn't block the inlet filter. This will maintain optimal capacity.

Does this also work in a crawl space?

Absolutely. The Electrode Level Switch is perfect for low and difficult-to-reach areas like crawl spaces. Combined with our flat suction pump, it automatically pumps down to just 2 mm of residual water, without you having to be present. If there's at least 30 cm of space around the pump, the Crab Float Switch is also a good option, switching on automatically from 3 mm of water.

The pump does not drain properly

First, check the water level: at least 7 mm is needed to build up a vacuum. If the pump is tilted or higher than the water, proper suction will not occur. Also, ensure the float activates the pump at the correct level – 4 mm higher than the pump, so there is enough starting water for the pump.

Usage

Everything about operating and installing your pump

Does the pump work automatically?

Not standard. Our pump operates manually: you plug it in to turn it on. This is a deliberate design, as fixed, built-in floats only activate at a water level of 5 cm – which is too late for acute water problems. Therefore, combine it with an external float switch, such as the Crab Sensor (3 mm) or Electrode Switch (1 mm), for automatic operation from an extremely low level.

What is the difference between the floats?

The Crab Float Switch is ideal for open spaces such as roofs or larger basements. It switches on automatically from 3 mm of water. The Electrode Level Switch is designed for tight spaces, such as crawl spaces or small basements. It can be precisely adjusted and reacts from as little as 1 mm. Both are external, fit any pump, and are much more sensitive than standard built-in systems.

How does the pump work without a float?

Then you have a manual system. You have to switch the pump on or off yourself via the electrical outlet. Without a float switch, the pump stays on until you switch it off. This is convenient if you want to control everything yourself, but for ongoing water problems, we always recommend a float switch.

Can I leave the pump?

Absolutely. The pump is suitable for continuous use. Combine it with a float switch for automatic operation. Then it only switches on when needed, without overheating or running dry. Perfect for long-term basement or crawl space problems.

How do I set the float?

With the Crab Float, you use the magnetic key: once 3 mm of water is detected, it starts after 5 seconds. If the water drops below 3 mm, the pump continues running for another 30 seconds to empty the hose. The Electrode Switch has two pins that you can position at a height of your choice, allowing you to determine the on and off point. Need more information? Technology & Installation

This is how the system works and how to configure it correctly

Does the pump have a sensor?

No, and that's intentional. Built-in floats often only activate at 5-6 cm of water. For many customers, that's already too late. External floats activate at 1-3 mm, which is crucial for early leaks. This prevents water damage at a much earlier stage.

What is the minimum water level?

The pump only starts properly at 7 mm of water. This is necessary to create a vacuum. After that, it continues to suction down to 2 mm. This low residual level makes it ideal for basements and crawl spaces where you really want to stay dry.

Crab float not working?

Usually, the pump is set too high. The float detects water at 3 mm, but if the pump isn't set any lower, no water will enter through the inlet. Therefore, always ensure the pump is at least 4 mm lower than the float.

Level switch not switching properly?

Ensure there's at least a 1 cm gap between the electrode's on and off points. And always place the grounding pin on the floor. This ensures accurate measurements and prevents the pump from running continuously.
